Biography

Dr. Patricia (Patty) Mechael is Principal and Policy Lead at HealthEnabled, an Africa-based not-for-profit that helps governments integrate life-saving digital health solutions into their health systems. As a digital health thought leader with 20 years of experience, she served as Executive Director of the mHealth Alliance, took numerous advisory roles for national governments to develop digital health strategies and privacy and security policies, and is currently leading the creation of a Global Digital Health Index with the World Health Organization. She is a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Fellow and Resident, Johns Hopkins University Knowledge for the World Distinguished Alumnus Award Recipient, member of the editorial board of the Journal of Medical Internet Research, and co-editor of the book: mHealth in Practice: Mobile technology for health promotion in the developing world.
